Adobe Integrating AIR with Android
Posted on June 4th, 2010 | by think |
I won’t lie. I have been more than pleased that Adobe and Google have been cozying up. It is the greatest thing. Today Adobe announced that it was bringing full AIR integration to Android. They even released a ‘pre-release’ so that developers can get coding immediately. Of course I am a participant and that and have already begun working on a little project to test the waters. It seems to work nice and developers already familiar with programming with Actionscript should find migrating to developing for a touch screen a breeze.
This immediately brings me back to the whole dispute with Apple of Flash. Its ridiculous and has led me to boycott Apple products. As many say, they are good at selling ‘cool’, but I am a developer. So Android makes more sense.
I am going to test a project with Papervision 3D to see how that comes out. In general this is an exciting time for Flash developers. Finally your skill sets can set the mobile world ablaze!
Stay tuned for more…
